Sarah

Tutor

Hi, my name is Sarah and I am a tutor at Forest 1st Tutoring. I have worked in primary education for 18 years as a class teacher, SENCo, Vice Principal and Principal. I specialise in Early Years and Key Stage 1, with particular experience in phonics, including Read Write Inc., and supporting children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD and global developmental delay.

I am a calm, caring and patient tutor who is passionate about helping children feel confident, enjoy learning and reach their potential. I take time to get to know each child as an individual, discovering their interests, strengths and what motivates them, and use these to make our sessions engaging and meaningful.
I believe learning should be fun. I make sessions practical and active, incorporating movement and, where possible, taking learning outdoors. I particularly enjoy supporting children who may have lost confidence in their abilities, helping them recognise their strengths, re-engage with learning and experience those small successes that can make such a difference.

I completed my Primary PGCE in Norfolk and recently completed an MSc in Psychology, which has given me an even greater understanding of how children learn and develop. My degree in Development Studies also took me to different parts of the world, including three months volunteering in a rural orphanage in Kenya, where my love of teaching first emerged.

Outside of teaching, I love exploring the outdoors with my daughter, swimming, reading and looking after our three guinea pigs, Popcorn, Biscoff and Honey!

My aim is for every child I work with to feel understood, supported and proud of their progress, while developing the confidence to become a happy and independent learner.
