My name is Rose and I am a teacher of English Literature and Language specialising in AQA curriculum, with six years’ experience in the classroom and three years’ experience working with AQA as an examiner.
Throughout my teaching career, I have always believed in maintaining high standards and expectations for all students regardless of their educational or personal backgrounds. The schools I have worked at include a high proportion of pupils with additional challenges such as EAL, SEN needs or PP pupils. Therefore, I pride myself on my ability to break down complex ideas or tasks into simple, manageable chunks and helping pupils feel confident and empowered to achieve their goals.
My approach to tutoring is very much pupil-led so I always aim to create a comfortable, safe teaching environment where pupils feel able to express what they find challenging without fear of judgement. This then enables me to really personalise and tailor lessons to suit pupil need and help them to achieve real success.
To me, the best part of tutoring is when pupils realise that, in English, there is no definitive right or wrong answer so their own voice and interpretations are 100% valid!
